This sex WAS on fire

Boy was I excited when the news approached that KINGS OF LEON would of playing Cologne.Photobucket Last August, when I've seen them for the first time i swore to myself not to see them in Germany, but.......yeah, i'm THAT weak in my decisions. I TRIED to order my tickets right away.....tried as I said, because it took me like 3 days to get one, as it always seemed to be sold out respectively no tickets available. My nerves.....i can tell you! Anyway, got my ticket that still said they'd about to play Live Music Hall - one aweful venue. Later it got changed to Palladium - one even more awefully venue. Photobucket But not even this fact could smallen my excitement. I swear I can't remember the last gig that got me all that excited - probably BJ in 1993 or DPT in 2006....
Anyway, the days before the gig my boss was a bit crumpy & we bitchfighted every now & then. Pissed me off just enough to gain some needed extra power for the gig. Going there with a bit of anger in the belly was always a good thing in the past - you could just rock it out at the gig.Photobucket The night before there was also this little LIBERTINES reunion at the nme awards PhotobucketPhotobucket Photobucket which i just have to mention on any given occassion - it made me just so happy. It still makes me happy. Ooooohhhhhh, happy happy, joy, joy.
Sorry, got a bit distracted here. Just wanted to say I was in the perfect mood for gigging...Photobucket
Anyway, got to the palladium around 5-ish and there were already a few people, like 30 if memory serves right. Doors got open all of a sudden, 30min earlier (maybe 15 - times were stated differntly on the tickets) . Made my way to the front rather easy & placed myself in front of Matthew whom my heart belongs anyway Photobucket . Crowd was rather relaxed & age range was quiet array between like 15 & 65. Support band were called The Ettes - 2 girls + a boy. The singers voice was a bit whimpering - didn't liked them too much, but seen worse. That couldn't kill my excitement by any means. Lord I was about to explode. Photobucket
Exactly at 9pm they came on - Kings Of Leon. And omg, that band is like sex. Photobucket I just can't describe it any different. Calebs voice is so incredible. I've got goosebumps from start to end. I just can listen to him for hours. Anyway we went nuts - jumping up and down better than any superballs (remember those little balls from back in the 80s?)
Setlist goes like this:
Crawl
Taper Jean Girl
My Party
Molly's Chambers
Closer
Fans

Revelry
Milk
Four Kicks

Wasted Time

Sex On Fire
The Bucket
Notion
On Call

Black Thumbnail

Best reaction got - to no surprise - Sex On Fire and On Call. To cut a long story short I loved every tune. Goddammit, not even a year ago I didn't like the first 2 albums nor thought much of the band - Lord knows what I was listening to Photobucket....there must've been the wrong CDs in my cases. I can't think of any other excuse
The gig itself would have been brilliant, but the crowd was a bit......erm strange. Two times I was shown disability certificate during the gig with people demanding to go up front.
Photobucket
Nice try - but you're not clever enough. Also I missed all those 'Leons, Leons, Leons' screaming - so crowd was a bit quiet. Still this was one of the much better gigs I've seen at palladium. Sound was very, very, very loud but still good. The security sucked as always - during one of my fave songs (Revelry) I had this stupid hassle with one of them because his little girlfriend was pushed to hard up at front - jesus, don't stand there if you can't handle it Photobucket There was a fair few crowdsurfers as well - don't know why they mostly did it during Revelry, but yeah Photobucket Caleb said somthing of it being their last night in europe before they're returning home to Nashville which they highly miss. And if we'd go crazy enough they could be playing very, very long - well they didn't in the end Photobucket I certainly wouldn't have had complained. Oh, and they want to play a for free show in Cologne Photobucket (Yes, Caleb I heard you right there - and I won't forget...)
Did I already mention Calebs voice??? Incredible!!!!! I do think you either love it or you can't stand it longer than 5min. I'm belonging to the first ones - I was just fascinated. And Matthew, my love: Did you ever hear of the smoking ban in Germany??? No? Well, fuck it Photobucket Great guitar player - I got carried away a little bit too often probably....
Before I'll finish my little write up here I have to state my highlight: First of all: Does a more sexy band name than Kings Of Leon excist? I mean, did you ever heard Caleb say it? I've got an strangely obsession with it. There's something in his voice.....Photobucket

Great gig at all - really can't wait to see them again very, very, very soon. Benicàssim hopefully!

....sorry, maybe the word sex was mentioned a bit too often tonight - but that's what it is all about anyway, innit?
